Strategy Director


For our Amsterdam office we are looking for a Strategy Director to be a strategic voice at OMD, who will create compelling stories that inspire clients and consumers. You are a brilliant thinker, who will drive business growth for OMD’s clients, by being curious, pragmatic and challenging. You will work across a number of our highest-profile clients, with a focus on – PepsiCo and McDonald's.

The Strategy & Consultancy team creates business value for our clients and the agency, by identifying drivers for performance and growth. We are outcomes-focused, ask the right questions, challenge the norms and solve complicated (business) challenges.

As a Strategy & Consultancy team we are responsible for adoption, application and evolution of our end to end thought development process: OMD Design and the world’s most creative data driven platform evaluated by Forrester: Omni. As a result OMD delivers data inspired audience and behavioural insights, communications frameworks, opportunities for (digital) innovation, best in class channel execution and cutting edge measurement.

Key responsibilities

Clients: Develop strong relationships with clients and earn their trust through brilliant thinking and proactivity

  • Identify and proactively act upon (audience) data signals at scale that build best-in-class marketing solutions for our clients. Clearly demonstrate and convince on how the strategy delivers on clients’ business needs.
  • Solve business challenges such as: brand safety / health / saliency, customer journey, ID management, geo-location, connections & content, driving demand, test and learn agenda, measurement framework.
  • Champion digital transformation expertise, act as the go-to person in this specific area.
  • Have a strong knowledge of marketing communication trends and case studies and how to use them to inspire future thinking.

Agency: Bring fresh thinking, actively collaborate and inspire with best-in-class work

  • Have a passion for understanding our core agency products, their strategic value to clients and opportunities to evolve/improve them. This includes products like: investment consultancy, audience data segmentation, modelling, attribution, research or technology solutions.
  • Look for opportunities where strategy is used to grow incremental revenue.
  • Drive ideation by facilitating brainstorms / workshops.
  • Champion the OMD‘s marketing & insights platform Omni and help to evolve/improve adoption and application of this data platform.
  • Play an active role in pitches, directly supporting the pitch leads.

Skills Required

  • Able to connect heavy/complex data with creative thinking and able to translate it into actionable marketing solutions.
  • Have a passion to understand the commercial needs of clients and able to proactively challenge and inspire them.
  • You are a passionate presenter with an ability to turn information into a compelling story.
  • Good consultancy and analytical skills.
  • Flexible, hands-on and open to feedback.


  • Around 5 years of experience in the field of media / digital consultancy / in house marketing experience would also be accounted. Business/Marketing Intelligence experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written & spoken Dutch and English.
