Role within the organization:

The Connections Director reports to the PHD Business Lead Diageo and is part of the PHD Diageo Northern Europe Cluster team.

Purpose of the role

The Connections Director translates the Diageo Brand Marketing Business plan into a Brand Connection Plan.

With the in-depth understanding of the brand and markets the Connections Director will advise Diageo brands on the Connected Media plan for all Northern Europe markets, working closely together with the Local market expert on media strategy and tactical plans. The Connection Director guarantees use of actionable insights and the client journey is in place through all used media channels based upon the PHD Media Principles.

As a Connections Director within the Diageo team, you’ll have the overall vision on all brand activities and channels. You are the key day to day contact to the brand team, own the relationship with the Brand team and the Category Directors. The Connections Director is the team lead of a brand cluster team and responsible for the overall performance of PHD on al Diageo brands in the team. The Connections Director is also responsible for the guiding, education and development of the PHD Connections/Market Engagement team.

Team Management

  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with involved PHD and Omnicom teams on a local and international level.
  • Ensuring optimal and efficient cooperation and division of workload with the On Demand team, Market Engagement teams, Local market teams and Consultants and Campaign Managers.
  • Coaches, inspires and motivates team members to optimal performance and development.
  • Responsible for the development and functional daily management of the Diageo brand teams.
  • Initiates, stimulates and guarantees (digital) innovation within the organization and its own team.
  • As a senior, propagates the standards and values of the organization and decisions taken by management.
  • Is partly responsible for optimal knowledge exchange in his own team and within the rest of PHD.
  • Contributes to optimal working conditions and development for the team and a good working culture.

Managing Client Relation

  • (Co) responsible for developing and monitoring the media strategic direction of the brands you work for
  • Develop proactively and in collaboration with the strategists, media specialists and other labels within OMG out of the box concepts for clients
  • Showing optimal knowledge of the brands, the markets in which they operate and the (business / communication / media) challenges of the client and applies this
  • Substantive sparring partner for your clients in the field of business, marketing and media strategy
  • Supervising optimal quality of output and / or activities for clients
  • Primarily responsible for the continuous optimization of client satisfaction
  • Mapping and identifying client need and responding proactively to them
  • Continuously delivering excellent service to the client, aiming for an ideal balance between client objective and return
  • Taking an active role in key account meetings, such as presentation of important (annual) plans and evaluations


Who you are:

- You have at least 2 years of experience in a similar position

- You have at least 5 years of experience with media strategy and advice, of which experience with digital media is a must, experience in managing international clients is preferred

- You have sufficient knowledge of all online and offline media channels to be able to judge them properly on content

- You have experience in managing a team

- You have a true passion for media, marketing and consumer behavior
